Painting
We have been collecting Miniatures for over 15 years and have been painting them from the beginning. Some of our models still have their original paint jobs! We have never claimed to be any good at painting but it is interesting to see how our skills have developed over the years. looking at some of our models is like trip back in time and always brings back hilarious memories of heroic battles and terrible tactical blunders! As the years have gone on we have picked up new skills and experience that we will share and demonstrate as we expand our collections and repaint old favourites.
An old school Black paint, the flip top felt like a revolution after the frustrating twist tops on the old style. The new modern paints are fantastic although i personally feel that the base paints are a bit thick. My first brush at the bottom of the pic, a grizzled veteran!
Some of our very early work featured white undercoats. we often tried to copy the colours that we saw in the rulebooks or White Dwarf, but we weren't afraid to stray to make our models feel more individual.
The so called middle years! Edge highlighting, dry brushing and a steady hand meant that more detail could be applied. Expanding our collection to Warhammer and 40k meant that we were encouraged to try out own colour schemes and create themed armies.
Our more recently painted miniatures. the biggest revelation to our painting skills developing has definitely been the use of washes. These are fantastic for showing off details and adding natural shadows. We have also started to experiment with different styles of basing, moving on from the sacred Goblin Green to trying the new range of technical paints.
Terrain
There can be no doubt that terrain makes all tabletop games infinitely better! Not only does a scattering of rocks and ruins add a 3D dimension to your game, but it also adds a whole new array of tactical advantages and disadvantages which can turn the tide of any battle!

There is a bounty of terrain to be had, tabletop gaming has a huge variety to choose from, from across the whole miniature and modelling hobbies range. It is easy to get your hands on everything from ruins, to trees and even full on buildings and fortress walls!

However, as well as this a lot of the fun in collecting and acquiring terrain for your gaming boards is creating your own! All kinds of arts and crafts can be utilised the only limit is your imagination! inspiration can be taken from location around the world at any point in history, it can be taken from any film, t.v show, video game, book or even artwork. The more variety you have the more dynamic and interesting you can make your battles.

We'll be showing off some of our terrain and how we built and/or painted it in the links below.
